NSGIC Advocates for National Data Programs
NSGIC believes in the development and maintenance of focused national data programs that meet the needs of all levels of government as well as the private sector. This generally means large scale data that meets the needs of local emergency responders on the ground, as well as federal analysts looking at nation-wide trends. We believe that data should be collected once and used many times using a systematic approach that we refer to as For the Nation. Please click here to learn more.
Justifying the Cost of Authoritative Imagery
As internet content providers and commercial entities provide ever greater amounts of free, low-cost or ’bundled’ data, managers of public agencies are being asked with increasing frequency, “Why do we have to pay for data when it is available on the web or off the shelf?" NSGIC has published a document to assist in comparing off-the-shelf imagery products and services to authoritative aerial imagery acquisition. Access the document here.
